The Wedding Fees Couples Often Forget to Include
The budget begins long before the first vendor is booked — and often extends well beyond the final invoice. Here are the costs worth accounting for from the very start.

One of the biggest misconceptions about wedding planning is that the budget begins and ends with the venue, catering, flowers, photography, and entertainment.
In reality, the details between the details are often what surprise couples most.
As planners, we spend a great deal of time helping our clients prepare for the expenses that don't always appear on the first proposal. While these investments may seem small on their own, together they can have a significant impact on the overall budget.
If you're beginning the planning process, these are a few of the costs worth accounting for from the very start.
Service Charges, Taxes, and Gratuities
Perhaps the most common surprise is discovering that the number on the proposal isn't necessarily the final number.
Many venues and caterers add service charges, administrative fees, gratuities, and sales tax. Before signing a contract, ask for a complete estimate so you can understand exactly what is included.
Delivery, Setup, and Breakdown Fees
The flowers arrive beautifully arranged. The candles appear perfectly placed. The tables are set. The rentals are collected at the end of the evening.
None of that happens by accident.
Delivery, setup, and breakdown fees are often separate from the cost of the products themselves, and they can quickly become a meaningful part of the overall investment.
Overtime Fees
Timelines shift. Speeches run long. Guests stay on the dance floor longer than expected.
Photographers, videographers, entertainers, transportation companies, and venues frequently charge overtime fees once the contracted hours have ended.
Building additional time into the schedule can help create a more relaxed experience while preventing unexpected costs.
Vendor Meals
The team responsible for bringing your celebration to life will likely spend the entire day with you.
Photographers, videographers, planners, musicians, and other vendors are typically provided with meals during the reception. It's a small detail, but one that is important to include in the budget from the beginning.
Alterations and Accessories
Most couples remember to budget for attire but overlook the finishing touches.
Alterations, shoes, jewelry, veils, steaming, and accessories can quickly add up and should be considered part of the overall investment.
Transportation, Hotel Blocks, and Guest Experience
Some of the most memorable celebrations are also the most thoughtful.
Whether that means arranging shuttle transportation, reserving hotel blocks, providing welcome bags, or preparing for changing weather conditions, these details help create a seamless experience for everyone involved.
The Blush & Bash Perspective
We believe the most memorable celebrations are the ones that feel deeply considered.
A well-planned budget isn't about limiting possibilities. It's about creating space for what matters most.
Our advice is simple: reserve an additional five to ten percent of your budget for the details you haven't discovered yet.
You'll thank yourself later.
Because while your guests may never notice the service charge, the delivery fee, or the backup plan waiting quietly behind the scenes, they'll absolutely remember how the day felt.
